Pupils at The Rowans AP Academy complete one weeks work experience in term 1 of year 10 and year 11. Work experience places are organised via MEBP and pupils are matched to their requested interests and future career pathways.
In October 2016 both year groups completed very successful work experience week in Medway businesses. 11 year 10 and 9 year 11 pupils visited local businesses to experience life in the workplace and see what it is like having a full time job.
Pupils were praised for their punctuality and willingness to try new jobs. All business providers said they would have the pupils back again and would be very happy to host a Rowans pupil as they are confident, polite, hardworking and enthusiastic. This what some of them said;
Ryan is very good and polite to staff and the public.
Callum picks things up quickly, he is honest, polite and fine.
Ashley has a good attitude and is interested in all aspects of his work experience.
Stefan's is capable, you can show him once and he can get on with the job. When he applies himself his work is great.
Jack picks up tasks really well we are very happy with him.
Adam was positive.
Tyrese worked hard.
John was very helpful.
Harry had a very good attitude to work.
James is a hard worker and we are pleased with his progress.
Ryan had very good attire and a good attitude to working. He fitted into the suit department well.
Charlie had a very good attitude to work and fitted into the working environment well.
Connie has a very positive attitude to her work and enjoyed her placement. Connie has fitted in very well.
A year 10 pupil asked to go to Gillingham Football Club and this was organised for him. He was asked to help the grounds men at the Saturday game and thoroughly enjoyed his time at Gillingham Football Club.
We also have pupils at extended work placements, where they gain valuable work skills and an insight into the working environment linked to their future career aspirations.
We are very proud of all their achievements and are now looking forward to this years’ work placements.
