Inspiring and Innovative Primary SEN Teacher - for September 2024

An exciting opportunity to be part of a ground breaking provision in Medway

This vacancy has arisen due to an extension to the new purpose-built SEN provision in September 2023 for Primary SEMH needs on the site of the Rowans AP

Main/Upper Pay Scale plus SEN2 Allowance (£5,009)

Permanent/full time contract

The Beeches Primary Special/AP Free School is due to open in a new purpose-built building in 2026 under The Inspiring Change Trust.

Following initial identification of need for more specialist Primary SEMH provision in Medway and the creation of the Inspiring Change SEN, there is now need for this provision to increase in capacity before The Beeches comes on line.  

The Primary SEMH provision which was new for September 2023 is therefore increasing in capacity to meet need.  We are therefore actively seeking a dedicated and experienced teacher to join our team. As a Special Needs Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in providing a nurturing and inclusive learning environment for our primary-aged pupils with SEMH needs. You will use your expertise and creativity to develop tailored teaching strategies, adapting the curriculum to meet individual learning goals. Your compassion, patience, and understanding will empower pupils to flourish academically, socially, and emotionally.

Desired Qualifications and Skills:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and experience working with children with SEMH needs.
  •  A genuine passion for supporting the social, emotional, and mental well-being of children.
  • Knowledge of SEMH strategies, differentiated instruction, and behavior management techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with parents, staff, and external professionals.
  •  Resilience, adaptability, and a positive attitude towards challenges.

Successful applicants will;

  • Plan and deliver a broad curriculum based on the 6 principles of nurture and forest schools, with an unrelenting focus on the core curriculum areas notably English and Maths, Reading and SPAG.
  • Personalise and tailor the curriculum to the needs of the individual, ensuring progress and success for all pupils. 
  • Lead a programme of both academic and therapeutic intervention to meet individuals needs.
  • Lead, plan and deliver project-based learning to support cross curricular links and promote engagement and enjoyment, ensuring breadth of curriculum coverage.
