School Direct is a school-based teacher training route led by schools working in partnership with universities. Together training is provided which blends the theoretical study of learning, teaching and child development.

The School Direct path into teaching allows you to be paid to train within schools, this provides trainee teachers with more practical, hands-on preparation overseen by experienced teachers.

You need a 2:2 degree or higher, and you have to satisfy the basic entry requirements of teacher training (GCSE passes at grade C or above, or equivalent qualifications, in English and Mathematics).  If you apply for initial teacher training (ITT) courses, you must pass the professional skills tests in literacy and numeracy before starting your course.
